CFO - Sacramento, CA

SUMMARY

Take overreaching responsibility for the financial accuracy and integrity of the company’s records and maintenance of effective internal controls. Oversee operations in the areas of Accounting, Information Systems, Purchasing, and Equipment. Oversee preparation of budgets. Spearhead initiatives aimed at cost savings and increasing profitability. Liaise with third-party specialists, including legal, insurance, CFOlogistics, and various consultants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provide high-level supervision for the following departments: Accounting, Information Systems, Purchasing and Equipment. Interview and select applicants for management positions within those departments, appraise employee performance, and make compensation recommendations. Assist in those processes for staff-level personnel.
  2. Ensure the propriety of internal control policies and procedures and consistent application of same. Implement compliance with internal audit recommendations and parent company internal control requirements.
  3. Oversee preparation of company-wide budgets and forecasts.
  4. Manage preparation and circulation of financial and other reporting to senior management and the Board of Directors.
  5. Liaise with third-party specialists in the areas of legal, insurance, logistics, audit, tax and other consultants as necessary.
  6. Manage company’s trademark portfolio, consult with specialists as appropriate and make recommendations on applications and other trademark matters.
  7. Manage performance against capital expenditure budget.
  8. Spearhead company-wide initiatives aimed at cost savings and increased profitability.
  9. Prepare or direct preparation of financial analyses as requested by senior management, Board of Directors, or parent company personnel.
  10. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree from four-year university, preferably in business, economics, accounting, management or similar.
  • Eight to twelve years of business experience, including six to eight years of supervisory experience and at least three years in public accounting.
  • Wholesale, retail, and manufacturing industry experience preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.

CERTIFICATES/LICENSES REQUIRED

  • Certificate of Public Accountancy (CPA) preferred but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Sit for extended periods of time in an open environment

  • Occasional travel to attend community functions, meetings, and seminars using own transportation or by international air travel

BRAND REPRESENTATIVE-Southeast

SUMMARY

Overall responsibility for effectively executing all aspects of Java City’s program within third party locations. Ensures that all Java City programs are executed at a regional level. Ensures that the coffee category and Java City products achieve progressive sales growth at the region and store levels. Ensures that third party team member training, demonstration, in-store operations, merchandising, promotion and quality assurance programs are organized and executed in a manner that most effectively benefits Java City’s strategic objectives. Must execute job functions in a timely, organized fashion while demonstrating excellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to travel extensively and work independently with efficient time management skills and capabilities. Ability to effectively manage multi-state territories. Other territory locations may be assigned.

JOB ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Training

  • Facilitates quality training programs and ensures completion of required training protocol per location.
  • Recommends improvements and enhancements to Java City training programs.
  • Utilizes Java City training book, video and other tools to share Java City’s passion for sourcing and roasting the highest quality coffees that offer an opportunity to help support Java City quest to “Raise the Espresso Bar”.

  • Train Baristas and in-store management to ensure consistency in drink quality and freshness.
  • Work with in-store team to ensure training programs are successfully executed.

Quality Assurance

  • Conduct pre and post installation quality assessment visits to help determine preparedness of location and concurrence with Java City’s brand standards and programs. Provide accounts with proper support to effectively represent the Java City brand.
  • Possess working knowledge of espresso and coffee brewing equipment and food service operations is helpful (Java City will train on these systems.)
  • Conduct regular Quality Assurance checks to establish a benchmark and record improvement for each store.
  • Work with store team to ensure that equipment is in good working order and calibrated to standards.
  • Work with on site management to develop optimal ordering levels and to ensure freshness and availability of products.

Marketing & Merchandising

  • Ensure all monthly promotional as well as core retail items are attractively and prominently displayed.
  • All signage is placed according to plan and in good repair.
  • Provide and recommend merchandising plan to third party locations.
  • Ensures that Java City (Bewley’s) teas are displayed prominently in the component.
  • Manages and conducts consumer educational opportunities including Eco-grounds and other sustainability based programs.
  • Supports educational efforts and customer relations through vendor fairs, trade shows and client events.
  • Assures that all coffee marketing promotions are executed to plan.
  • Ensures Java City brand image is implemented and executed to standard and plan.

Financial

  • Provide coffee leadership and expertise to achieve progressive sales increases in required purchase categories including identified gap opportunities.

Store layout and function

  • Promote Java City’s strategy on design, layout and store placement for all third party locations.
  • Provides constructive feedback to Java City design function in a proactive and timely manner.

Communication

  • Motivate and educate component team with regard all Java City products, programs and promotions.
  • Build customer pride in Java City products.
  • Provide timely evaluations and requested information.
  • Communicate wins, opportunities and business issues.
  • Communicate training sessions, store visits and project schedule.
  • Work with Java City corporate team to ensure that the facilitation and installation of equipment meets Java City brand standards and the needs of our programs.
  • Demonstrate ability to interact with multiple levels of client personnel; establish relationships with territory management and team.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two year college degree with a concentration in Food & Beverages or equivalent experience preferred
  • Knowledge of food & beverage operations and best practices and procedures
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel/PowerPoint/Word and ability to use/learn company specialized software and hardware
  • Ability to locate cost-effective and book online travel arrangements
  • Ability to listen, interpret and communicate new information effectively in both written and oral form
  • High degree of organization, ability to prioritize, attention to detail and ability to multi-task
  • Interpersonal skills required to interface effectively with all levels of management, both in the field and at the corporate office
  • Excellent customer service, written, verbal and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Some knowledge of retail environments and marketing a plus.
